“Dear Martha, here at the Bauhaus we are playing games – and nobody knows the rules.” __This is how one of the postcards of the planning games at the Bauhaus Dessau begins in 1990.
The male league of the architectural elite has gathered there to resolutely enact a new cityscape for Berlin. Shortly thereafter, the competitions for central locations such as Potsdamer Platz followed.
The Alexanderplatz competition plays a special role in those years – not least because of its mythical charge. As part of the lecture, the Alexanderplatz competition will be re-read and its urban echo traced to the present days.
