AlltageinTagaus – Ein Lefebvre Symposium über das Recht auf Stadt
AlltageinTagaus – A Lefebvre Symposium about the Right to the City
On May 4th, 2017 the MA-Programme “Spatial Strategies” of weißensee academy of art berlin offers an opportunity to discuss the current relevance of Henri Lefebvre’s theories about space, urbanisation and revolution—including his often-quoted claim right to the city—for artistic processes and urban politics within a symposium. Klaus Ronneberger (Frankfurt), Christian Schmid (Zürich) and Christoph Schäfer (Hamburg), three of the most important voices in the interpretation of Lefebvre’s theories in the German-speaking context, will address questions around the representation, production and appropriation of space. The practical relevance of these theories is highlighted in the concluding podium discussion, during which Christoph Schäfer—who in Hamburg co-initiated successful interventions between art, appropriation and planning such as Park Fiction and PlanBude—will interact with members of the Berliner initiatives Stadt von Unten and Kotti&Co in Dragoner Areal, a contested space recently passed over by the central government to the city administration.
