Moderne Proben – Festspiellab
Berliner Festspiele Lab presents:
Sketches, commentaries, trials / Installations, performances, videos, archives
In co-operation with the Berliner Festspiele, students of the course “Space Strategies” from the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art have explored the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Within the frame of artistic research, the 17 students – artists, architects, designers and cultural theorists – have used the site, the building and the theatre as a starting point for contextual research, site-specific case studies and performative interventions. The title, “moderne Proben” (or “Probing the modern”), relates not only to testing the physical parameters of the place but also to probing its current state of use.
The results of the research and experimentation are presented as video, performance and interactive works as a part of the Berliner Festspiele “Lab” program. The diversity of the work reflects both the interdisciplinary, collaborative nature of the Masters program and the institutional presence of the theatre.
